Sometimes working a full time day job is more than a drag; it's paralyzing. Not for your body, perhaps, but for your creative energy. When you get home from work, you don't want to do anything but stare into space, or at most, absorb things like TV, movies, or internet. Below are some ways to structure your time so that you'll never lose touch with your artistic side.

Schedule it into your day:

Arrange time to get creative each day. Do it in an unusual spot like the train or the shower or even right before you go to bed.

The next best time is 10 minutes before you go to sleep, as your mind is most relaxed at that time - or at least it should be.

Hold onto a 3X5 card wherever you go:

We all know about the mind blowing idea jotted on a napkin, and that's why it's not a bad idea to always have a napkin (or an index card, or a small journal) with you no matter where you go. Letting your mind wander into creative territory can also mean that you let it wander away from your long term memory, and a forgotten stroke of genius isn't going to do you any good three hours later when you need it.

Wake up earlier to make some extra time:

Just as the last minutes before you go to sleep can be creative moments, it is said that our mind is at it's freshest and most creative in the mornings. So why not get into the habit of getting up that little bit earlier, and let your mind run wild with creative ideas.

Ask yourself inquiries:

Ask crazy questions like, "What exactly would I do if I had no limit in spending that I now have and would still succeed?"

Define your USP:

In your creative moments be sure to think about your company's USP, as it's important that this is crystal clear and concise. Creative ideas are wonderful but if your USP is not clearly stated, the benefits of your product and/or services will never shine through.
