Copywriting is essentially the same in every field; the only differences lie in marketing strategies and the medians used to get an ad to an audience. This article in particular will look at how to write successful radio copy.

You must first research your target audience in order to know how they are motivated. Research is one of the most important parts of copywriting no matter what field in which you are writing. If you fail to do your initial research, then you will fail to successfully motivate your audience into buying your product.

You should also talk to the particular station that's going to run you ad. They should be able to tell you what kind of people listen to their station, which will help you tailor your ad to this stations and help you determine which stations are best suited to advertise your product.

You also need to be much more concise with radio ads than with sales letters. This is because you only have a short amount time in which to advertise your product. Therefore a clear and concise ad is required in order to be effective.

You can also listen the commercials your competitors are running. Since radio stations target a specific demographic, commercials that play over and over are probably very successful and can give you clues about how to pattern your ad. It?s a good idea to follow what you're hearing because it probably works.

When selling a technical item, use technical jargon early on in order to que your particular niche of listeners at the beginning of the ad. Testimonials are also very effective in commercials because they bring credibility to your product.
